In an age of arbitrary fame, beauty, talent and intelligence, we must recognize the absurdity of our society. In an age where artificial reasoning can be created, we must prioritize being HUMAN. We must prioritize our metacognitive systems, and practice our understandings of existence, morality, and of course, the creation of art, the most sacred act for humans. Our identities shan't be tied to what we do to survive, it shall be tied to beauty we put in the world.
April 2025
A deeply personal song written around March 2025. I've always struggled with self-identity, perception, insecurity — I wanted to write a song that embodies and personifies this creature and how it relates to our difficult lives. The bass dives straight into an intense groove with introspective lyrics.
February 2024 · EP
This is an EP I made when I was 18-19. I wanted to explore my production skills and collaborate with artists from Montreal and Quebec City. The final result is a short, thrilling and forever looping album that doesn't pull any punches.
This was a special time in my life. I began creating these songs when I was 16. Specifically, "Jealous" was written in the summer of 2022. This is when I first discovered my unique style of only using the bass to create my songs. I felt like this was given from above. My soul was speaking through my instrument, and finally, began doing so in my art. These songs are emotional, and you can hear the immaturity in my artistic and overall persona. They aren't my best, but have a unique charm to them. The highlights are Jealous, a groovy and jazz influenced pop song about teenage love, and SFG (So Far Gone) another song... about teenage love... that is bilingual (French/English) and shows the building blocks for the grandiose 100+ layer harmonies I've come to make a part of my style.
Loic Johl is a Canadian artist whose prime goal in his art is to innovate and "bring listeners to another world". Primarily a bassist who has been playing since he was a child, he taught himself to produce and mix his own music around a similar age. His music is almost entirely made with the bass — layered alongside luscious vocals and introspective lyrics, creating a unique experience for listeners. Anyone who is an outcast, alternative, struggles with their own mind and prides themselves on non-conformity will find solace in his music.
